What Does Starting Over Mean?
Although "free” for the first time in 15 years, Eric has years of baggage and a stubborn desire to hold on to the past which initially keeps him stuck as he tries to move in a world way different than the one where he first met his ex-wife in the year 2000. From one-night stands to ghosting to online dating, to mental anguish and heartbreak to the self-care that is required of a 40+, divorced Black man and father in America, Eric tackles it all with fearless transparency, vulnerability, and a refreshing sense of humor — especially when it comes to making fun of himself.
It's transparent, it’s raw, it’s funny, it’s messy, and it’s hopeful, but most of all it’s proof that second chances do in fact exist for us when life doesn’t go as planned. Inspirational, witty and captivating
I’m was not much of a Podcast listener, but decided to look into information on how to deal with my separation (2 years ago). I could not get enough of listening to Eric. His stories of what he went through from a male’s perspective was not only inspiring, but it truly made me realize that it’s ok to feel the hurt and how we can jump back into a better version of ourselves, and while doing that, he was authentic and extremely funny. He allowed me to understand the true meaning of focusing more on me during the healing process and not to spend too much time sitting into the past, because, after all, that’s exactly what it was.
I started out all over the place with his stories, but recently went back and began listening from the beginning. I loved it just the same. I recommend this Podcast not only for those going through separation or divorce, but for those who just want to listen to a truly captivating, humorous, and very real conversationalist.
So realistic and beautifully crafted
This podcast has been a blessing to me as an African-American male that’s currently going through a similar situation that Eric Payne so gracefully and verbally talked through. Eric provided his perspective on how to grow not only from marriage/relationship dilemma’s but any challenging situation and how to become the best version of ourselves moving forward as our past does not determine your future. Self-worth comes first. I listen to all four episodes, and I love every single podcast. I need more of Eric as his perspective has tremendously helped me understand how to navigate for a 52 year old man married for 22 years to move forward when adversity hits. Thank you brother.
